THE HELLABEEM SRI LANKA PROJECT
A boardingschool for educational, vocational training and a rehabilitation centre.
4 hectares (10 acres) land with private money is bought in Ibbawela in
the south of Sri-Lanka in 2000. In 2004 this land is gifted to
the Trust "Hellabeem Sri Lanka"

van Beek, have started in 2007 a
boarding school as an educational, vocational and a rehabilitation centre, to teach a profession for
boys with walking disabilities, and locomotive problems, who are highly
vulnerable, from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds
in the age of 14-25 years. Disabilities are mostly the result of
illnesses, braindamage, birth trauma’s, deformations, (partial) spinal
lesions, polio, and amputations, accidents etc.
For girls from the neighbourhood we give short courses and
physiotherapy as well.
Mr. Lahir from Galle and Lion Chandra Kumare Wije Gunawardana from Matara are the Trustees.
