In March 2012 Ted Sol and José van Nunspeet came
to Hellabeem. They support a few projects in Aluthwatte, Digana. One is “Home
of Hope”, where orphans stay and the other is a mother Theresa
home for disabled girls. www.srilanka4all.nl. José organises physiotherapists and Psycho Motoric therapists for these projects. She will do that for us as well.
We came in contact with them via Harting Bank where we always get wheelchairs.
Ted 's firm Sol de Wilt worked together with Harting Bank.
They visited us and were very enthusiastic about our project.

She also organised an artist from America. His name is Robert Markey http://rmarkey.blue-fox.com
He visited and stayed in “Home of
Hope” where he was teaching mosaic. He was teaching our students
for 4 days the art of mosaic as well. It was a
beautiful and colourful and especially a creative process. Robert
designed fishes on the wall and within these lines the boys put pieces
of tiles.
They were very excited to do this! We collected the all rest tiles that otherwise was thrown away.
They were allowed to break it even more and it became a beautiful piece
of art. This way you literally break something and you can make
something new. It became a beautiful piece of Art! It was such a nice
process to watch the enthusiasm and fanatic way they showed. They could
not stop any more.
At the end of the 4 days we did not only have fish….But we had a complete jungle!
There was a leopard, elephant, snake, turtle,
monkey and dolphins. There was also a special project that was done by
Dayalal our art teacher. He designed a lotus bowl.
Inside the eating room there was a beautiful
dancer with mirror glass in it that was done by Robert himself as was
the face and hands.
